Mature Situations - Demo

this demo is pretty sweet.  punk / hardcore.  enjoy.

Snowgoons - The Trojan Horse

Here's one for the hip-hop fans. Snowgoons are a German trio of DJ's / emcees who feature a bunch of up-and-coming underground (and not so underground) artists from the states. Classical beats and ridiculous flows. Doesn't really fit the blog, but neither does anything else up here, so enjoy!

Lion of Judah - Number-rology

No explanation required. Just fucking...

Bane - Dublin 11:58 PM

It's certainly been awhile since I posted, but I refuse to let this release slip by anyone. Bane are one of the greats, and this 3-song 7" does everything but dissapoint. Awesome sound quality, and the same attitude they're known for, plus some exceptionally moshy and epic passages. Thanks to Kevin for Mediafire re-up!

Extortion - Terminal Cancer

Extortion are a Hardcore/Powerviolence band from Perth, Western Australia.  They are very loud.  Sometimes pissed.  Most likely fast, I'm pace deaf.  You should pick this up, it's not new or anything, so I'm sure any hardcore listener has this.  But if you don't, well hey, I know I pleased someone out there.  Download it.

download this!

Dangers - Discography

Amazing hardcore band, here's a biography and last.fm similar artists.  Dangers is a hardcore band from Southern California.  After the Miracle Mile broke up, guitarist Al Brown started a new project where he took on vocal duty. The band has included many people from other notable SoCal hardcore bands.  Similar artists (from last fm, not me) include:  Sabertooth Zombie, Ghostlimb, Lewd Acts, Comadre, Trash Talk, Graf Orlock, and Life Long Tragedy.  Decent aye? Wrong.  Awesome.  Download.  I got lazy and copied this from my post at Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Arms.  Who cares, I still uploaded it.  Enjoy!

Pretty Little Flower - Crushing Fury of Bastardization

Pretty Little Flower is a Grindcore band from Houston, Texas.
Formed in 1998, by former members of gulf coast grind band, GLEET. The current line up consists of Dave on guitar, and Franky on Drums.  Any connoisseur of grind knows this band, and most likely enjoys them.  I sure as fuck do.  Get into them as soon as possible, like right now dammit.

Iron Lung - Life.Iron Lung.Death.

great band.  seriously.  So loud, so fast (most songs), and so very very pissed.  Check them out, I'm bring this fucking blog back to life!  Kidding, all music posted here is amazing, so shut the fuck up queers and enjoy everything put up.  damn nujacks.

Native - Wrestling Moves

I didn't see this one coming at all, but here it is and I am oh so very glad to have it. They take the best parts of screamo/emo/and mathy post-rock and combine them into what is one of the best debut full lengths I have heard in a long time. Absolutely love it, highly suggest to everybody on here. Cheers!

Outbreak - S/T

This is an extremely fun hardcore record, and in my opinion it is a lot better then their last LP Failure. Fifteen all new jams from one of the most well-known bands in hardcore, let's see what ya'll think.

Elder - Reflect

Screamo is quickly becoming my favorite genre, and it's so awesome to see that it's not dead and there are bands keeping it alive. Most of the bands are doing their thing overseas, but Elder is carrying the torch in our very own backyard. Musically interesting and should appeal to most kids who like hardcore, comes recommended by this guy as if that means anything.

The Swell Season - Strict Joy

There's a good chance absolutely nobody on here will like this at all, but good things it's my blog so I can fucking post it anyway. Awesome duo/band that I first discovered on the movie Once and the songs they played blew me away. This just recently came out and every song has a different and seriously awesome vibe on it. Certainly worth a listen to anybody who likes, well...good music.

Cloak/Dagger - Lost Art

Quality hardcore/punk on Jade Tree records.
Last.fm says: "Richmond, VA’s Cloak/Dagger manages to invoke both flavors of doom, as well as a few others that haunt the imaginations of folks worldwide. Culling from the likes of Black Flag and Circle Jerks along with driving-guitar-groove bands like Hot Snakes and Swiz, Cloak/Dagger inject some applied aggression into their rhythmic crunch. Formed as little more than a temporary project in October 2006, the group recorded its first demo within the month, soon deciding to stay in the game a bit longer. After East Coast shows with groups like Paint it Black, Fucked Up, Kill Your Idols and Career Suicide, the group had fine-tuned its raw, unpolished punk sound. Abrasive, in a good way. Ugly, in the best way"

Severed Head Of State

Severed Head Of State is a hardcore band featuring members of Tragedy and World Burns To Death, among many others. Still together as far as I know. Just read that the singer was stabbed in 2006, missed his heart by inches, but he survived. That made me like them even more. This post is everything I have by them, I'm sure it's not everything they put out, but it's alot. Get into it.

Death By Stereo - If Looks Could Kill, I'd Watch You Die

Death By Stereo. Punk Rock. Really good. This is the only release I ever got into. The record after this sounded like a different band to me. Haven't listened to anything by them since. Dude's voice is kinda hit or miss, I remember hating it when I first heard it, but now I love it. But believe me, this is good ass punk. Even if you've heard the newer shit and didn't like it, get this. You'll be happy.

P.S. This is loud, fast and pissed. Just had to throw that out there for the douchebags that complain about music that they don't like, and aren't even obligated to listen to. So, tough guys who think it's "gay" to listen to anything but hardcore, this is ok to listen to. No one will pick on you.

Wu-Tang Clan - Wu-Tang Forever

No description will do this justice.  Fuck off.

United Mutation - Discography

United Mutation was one of the best and most strangely unique bands to come out of the early 80’s DC Hardcore scene. Their sound ranged from fast and chaotic in their demo beginnings to an atmospheric, melodic groove on their final release, “Rainbow Person”(a punk rock masterpiece). The originality in their music certainly set them apart from the other bands of the time, but what many fans and fellow hardcore enthusiasts believe to be the most significant about UM’s sound in particular is the rough, crazed vocals of frontman Mike Brown that are claimed to be the first ever done in that style. There were plenty of hardcore “singers” who shouted and screamed, but nothing as guttural or gruff as the vocals for United Mutation. With a completely original style, they performed a breed of hardcore punk that was all their own. Yet, sadly, this also caused them to be one of the most overlooked groups of this classic era…most likely because they were too different from their musical peers and way ahead of their time. As UM drummer Billy Fox once said in an interview, “Face it, we were not cool. We weren’t hated, we were just not considered “in.”

Dead City - Goddamn The 21st Century

One of the few new hardcore bands I've been instantly impressed with. These guys churn out 11 tracks of heavy-as-all-hell hardcore on what I believe is their first full length? Should be a big name very shortly.

Tegan and Sara - Sainthood

This album rules as to be expected. If you don't know...

Karen O and the Kids - Where the Wild Things Are Soundtrack

I'm sure everyone has heard of the children's book turned film Where the Wild Things Are.  If not, stop living under a rock and check the movie out.  I wouldn't recommend the book if you are older then 10, and don't want to be made fun of.  (I read it last week)  Anyway, Karen O and the Kids is a side project by Yeah Yeah Yeah's frontwoman, Karen O.  I don't really know who the 'Kids' are, but I don't care either.  I don't think side project is the right word, since they are only making music for this movie.  Go check this out, it's really relaxing and 'cutesy'.  Best custom soundtrack in the last 5 years in my honest opinion.  Enjoy.

Baroness - Discography

Baroness is a sludge metal band hailing out of Savannah, Georgia but the members themselves are from Lexington, VA.  Probably one of my more listened to bands recently, they have a really unique sound.  They remind me of Agalloch in some ways, and Mastodon in other ways.  Maybe my comparison sucks dick as usual, but I don't give a fuck.  Download what I've got, and shut the fuck up.  Oh, and remember, they don't sound like AFI.

Fugazi - 13 Songs

I love this band.  This is a compilation album consisting of, you guessed it, 13 songs from Fugazi's first two EPs.  These EPs were the self-titled release and Margin Walker.  Definitely my favorite release by them, and I think I have the best quality one, if not, let me know and hook me up with a better download.

AC4 - Self Titled

AC4! Debut from the Swedish hardcore band with Dennis and David from Refused. 15 songs of straight up hardcore. Fast. Pissed. The way it should be. This, I believe, is a vinyl rip so the quality might not be top notch. AC4!

Sayyadina - Fear Gave Us Wings

Sayyadina is a grind band from Sweden featuring members from Nasum, General Surgery, and Birdflesh. Kind of like a grind super group I guess. They straddle the line between fast hardcore and grind. 2 vocalists. D-beats. Blast beats. What I'm trying to say is that it's amazing. This is their first full length. They put out another LP after this and an EP before it, with a couple splits here and there. This is definitely my favorite of their's, but the other full length is pretty close. Check it.

Floorpunch - Fast Times at the Jersey Shore

Floorpunch was a straight edge hardcore band from New Jersey. Spearheaded the 1997 youth crew hardcore punk revival with In My Eyes and Ten Yard Fight.  Motherfucking floor punch.  Loud, fast, and pissed.  Enjoy!

Daymares - Can't Get Us All

Daymares is a band from Poland. Sludgey, metallic hardcore. Take Sabbath-like heaviness, with vocals that sound like the guy could be fronting Amon Amarth, and add the all important punk rock attitude, and you've got Daymares. I noticed the term "death 'n roll" all over the reviews for this record, which is pretty fitting. This is their debut. They did a split with Mönster, as well as a recent MCD, entitled "Toothless & Fanged".

Common Enemy - Living the Dream?

Common Enemy comes straight out of Reading, Pennsylvania, bringing forth song topics consisting of skateboarding, horror movies, everyday life, and personal politics.  In 1998 the band was formed with various lineup changes and a single CD release; it wasn’t until 2003 when Sonic and Greg Disorder joined the band that it was truly born. Almost immediately a tight bond was formed and everyone became more serious about playing out and having fun. Common Enemy has always been about touring, DIY and extensively playing out as much as possible to get their music heard. They even have started their own branch of DRP Records, called Overdose On Records to release, advertise and distribute their own music in recent years.  With this lineup Common Enemy recorded one full length CD, one 7” EP, two split 7” records (one of those splits released by themselves on their own label, Overdose On Records) and have tracks on various compilations nationally and internationally! This lineup was also responsible for an East Coast / Midwest tour, a Midwest tour, a European tour, and countless extensive short / weekend tour stretches in the Northeast, Mid Atlantic and Eastern Midwest.  I've been really fucking lazy lately, no reviews or biographies from myself personally.  Enjoy the record, it fucking rules.

The Minor Times

For the well-initiated in the hardcore scene, Pennsylvania’s The Minor Times are a welcomed throwback to a genre that once showcased intelligent lyrics, technical yet jarring riffs and unyielding passion behind the music over heavy-handed breakdowns and straightforward lyrics. - last.fm

I believe this is everything they recorded before they split up in '07. Maybe some comp tracks or a demo is missing.

Weatherbox - The Cosmic Drama

So much amazing music has been released this year that making a best of list is going to be near if not impossible, but I expect this to be on it. First off, points for going with Vonnegut theme artwork. Musically and lyrically, it plays like the sonic equivalent to a Vonnegut novel who just so happens to be one of my heroes. I'm biased, fuck you anyhow. I'm calling this for AOTY, or at least in my top five. American Art was fantastic, but here they really start to play with shit (and your mind) to create a really experimental piece of indie/punk that when played as a whole is a seriously amazing piece of music. Fuck all ya'll haters.
*I FIXED THE LINK.

Margot and the Nuclear So and So's

This is Margot and crew's second album. Their named after a character in the Wes Anderson flick The Royal Tenenbaums which everybody should go watch. Anyway, the music. They released Animal/Not Animal side by side, Animal is the album the band wanted to release and Not Animal was the label's choice. This is probably bad but I enjoy Not Animal better so I posted it. It's mostly a different tracklisting with a few different song choices, but the bulk of both CD's are the same. I saw this on a lot of Best of '08 lists so I listened, and it is fantastic indie/folk-rock music that I highly recommend.
